Gaels improve to 7-2 with sweep

STORM LAKE – The St. Edmond volleyball team swept Storm Lake and Pocahontas Area/Laurens-Marathon here Tuesday night.

The Gaels (7-2 overall) defeated the Tornadoes, 25-18, 25-16; and topped the Indians, 25-23 and 25-17.

Madeline Baldwin led St. Edmond with 12 kills on the night, including seven against Pocahontas Area. Hannah Huss had eight total in the two games and Clare Flattery seven.

“It was not our best performance, but we did enough to win both matches,” SEHS head coach Dee Huss said. “We were really flat and couldn’t get much momentum. Our passing struggled, so our offense was not clicking as well as we did this weekend.”

“We need to continue to play with the same level of intensity night in and night out,” Huss said.

St. Edmond opens North Central Conference play Thursday at home against Webster City.
