GRIMES – The Fort Dodge volleyball team opened its season with a split at the Dallas Center-Grimes Invitational Tuesday night.

The Dodgers (2-2 overall) prevailed over Prairie City-Monroe (22-20 and 21-10) and Des Moines Roosevelt (10-21, 21-16 and 15-10), while falling to Southeast Polk (21-13 and 21-18) and host Dallas Center-Grimes (21-17 and 21-16).

“We played really good for our first time out,” said FDSH head coach Tonia Burrell. “We still have some things to work on, but I saw a lot of positives. I was proud of the girls.”

Next action for the Dodgers is Tuesday at the Ames Invitational. Start time is set for 9 a.m.
