Dodger girls fall short
WEST DES MOINES – Making its season debut, the Fort Dodge girls swim team competed against West Des Moines Dowling Tuesday night.
The Dodgers dropped a 126-59 decision.
Freshman Taylor Hartley was a double individual winner for FDSH in the 200 individual medley (2:22.34) and the 100 freestyle (56.98). Fort Dodge’s 200 freestyle relay of Katie Keith, Lehr Thorson, Elli Russell and Hartley also earned gold in a time of 1:50.09.
Placing second for the Dodgers were Keith (100 backstroke, 1:07.56), Thorson (100 breaststroke, 1:19.56) and the 200 medley relay of Hartley, Thorson, Keith and Russell (2:02.90).
“I thought things went good for the first meet,” said FDSH head coach Michael Peterson. “Our two relays were faster than they went all last year. It looks pretty promising at the beginning of the season.”
Next action for Fort Dodge is Tuesday at Southeast Polk.
