Legends Tailgate succeeds

To the editor:

Under the trees Aug. 8 we had a perfect Friday evening. Hundreds of people of all generations came together to support a very important cause.

Our sixth annual Legends Tailgate raised more money this year than ever before for Friendship Haven’s Good Samaritan Fund.

Our Good Samaritan Fund is just as it’s named, a fund to help residents cover costs they wouldn’t be able to cover on their own. The parable describes a stranger helping someone in need. To the hundreds of people who supported us that evening, that is precisely what you did.

Many of you know the residents living on the Friendship Haven campus, so we aren’t all strangers. The Good Samaritan Fund is here to ensure we are always able to care for our neighbors. Perhaps in the future, if you aren’t already touched by Friendship Haven you will know someone who lives here and the Good Samaritan Fund comes in a time of great need.

I personally would like to thank everyone – whether you attended, sponsored, bid on or supplied auction items, hundreds of people came together to enjoy a wonderful event.

We do our best to help cover the rising costs of health care while at the same time build and maintain a beautiful campus for residents to enjoy. It’s events like the Legends Tailgate that re-energizes our commitment to provide innovative and responsive services to aging adults.

By the way we also had a great time! The dueling pianos were awesome and the live and silent auction was a blast. To those repeat event-goers your support is highly appreciated. To those of you that have never attended keep the first part of August in your mind and join us for an amazing evening next year.

Thank you.
