BADGER – Roger D. Powell Sr., 72, of rural Badger, died Friday, August 22, 2014, at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

The visitation is from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Grave side services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, August 29, at the Union Cemetery in Humboldt. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.

Roger is survived by his wife Janice, Badger; son Ryan, Badger; grandchildren, Logan, Roger III, Dusty, Cody, Jacob, Katherine and Ashley; sister Sharon (Daryl) Kuehnast, Humboldt; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim and Cheri Eslick, Gowrie; and Michelle Eslick, Fort Dodge; many nieces and nephews; and his special friends, Leanne McCaffery and Anne McCaffery. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Roger Powell Jr., his mother-in- law and father-in-law, Margaret and Leslie Eslick, and brother-in-law Richard Eslick.

Roger Darl Powell, the son of Darl and Ruth (Meyer) Powell, was born August 5, 1942, in Beech, Iowa. He attended Beaver Township schools and Humboldt schools. On June 7, 1964, Roger was united in marriage to Janice Eslick in Fort Dodge and the couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Roger was employed for more than 40 years with United States Gypsum. He was also active in farming and operated a trucking business.

Roger enjoyed restoring antique tractors and was a long time member of the Twin River Valley Antique Tractor Club. He had an extensive collection of miniature tractors. Roger especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren.
