MANSON – Carl Joseph Steinberg, 78, died peacefully at his home with his children at his bedside on Friday August 22, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 26 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson. Visitation will be on Monday at Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home in Manson from 4 until 7 p.m. There will be a rosary at 3:30 for all to attend and a prayer vigil at 6:30 at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.

Carl is survived by his children Anthony (LaDonna) Steinberg of Manson, IA; Angela (Marlin) Bigelow) of Rockwell City, IA; Teresa (Stan) Rude of Manson, IA; Edward (Wendy) Steinberg of Pomeroy, IA; Nanci (Jeff) Rezabek of Spencer, IA; Stephanine (Andy) Gross of Manson, IA; 16 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers Raymond (Carol) Steinberg of Tipton, IA; Richard (Joan) Steinberg of Ft.Dodge, IA; sister Francine Hicks of Manson, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Mary.

Carl Joseph Steinberg was born near Manson on November 27, 1935, the son of Carl H. and Marguerite (Koster) Steinberg. He attended country schools near his home and graduated from Manson High School in 1954. Carl took over the farming responsibilities when he was 14 years old, and continued farming after he married Mary Louise Foley on June 22, 1955, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Manson. He also worked as a farm hand at Moline’s Turkey farm near Manson for several years. He worked in town at the Manson Tony Cart before starting to work at the Manson Farmer’s Co-Op Elevator, where he was employed for 35 years before retiring in 1998. Carl enjoyed golfing, gardening, and anything outdoors.
