GOLDFIELD – Kenneth Jordan Harris, Jr., 57, formerly of Goldfield, passed away July 29, 2014 at his home in Des Moines, IA. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the South Enes Lutheran Church in Vincent, IA.

Kenneth was born July 3, 1957 in Chicago, IL to Kenneth and Elsie (Kappler) Harris, Sr. Ken grew up in the Eagle Grove and Fort Dodge area where he received his education. In 1982, he received his GED and in 1989 graduated from Northwest Iowa Technical College in Sheldon, IA.

On July 2, 1983 Ken married Linnea Stadtlander from Belmond. They made their home in Goldfield where they lived for over 20 years. Ken made his living as a welder, construction worker, truck driver and heavy equipment operator. Over the years, he worked for Palco Manufacturing, Kiefer Built, Lamber & Hamlin Construction and Maasdam Construction. When he wasn’t working, Ken liked spending his free time fishing, camping, working on cars and helping others.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children; Roger (Amber) Harris of LuVerne, Jessica Harris & Shane Lewis of Belmond, Nicole Bordwell & Steven Phipps of Boone, Kenny (Sherri) Harris III of Gilmore City, and Billy (Katie) Harris of Gilmore City; 16 grandchildren with one on the way; one brother Daniel (Donna) Harris of Fort Dodge; two sisters, Sandi Dankof of West Des Moines and Roberta Patterson of Fort Dodge; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, son-in-law Dan Bordwell, brother Clifford Harris and sister Betty Harris.
