Prosecution rests in McElroy case

Prosecutors in the first-degree murder trial of Derrick McElroy have rested their case.

The defense will begin calling witnesses at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.

McElroy is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Brandyn Preston, 19. Preston was shot in the neck at a bonfire party in May 2011.

He died from his injuries eight months later.
