Back to School Bash succeeds

To the editor:

Upper Des Moines Opportunity would like to express our appreciation to all who were involved in this year’s Back to School Bash. The bash was held on Aug. 5 in conjunction with National Night Out from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Corpus Christi parking lot. A sincere thanks goes out to the city of Fort Dodge for letting us partner with them in their National Night Out event, Holy Trinity Parish for providing the venue, to the 4-H group Douglas Dreamers for assistance with packing and distribution of the back packs, to the agency providers who sponsored activities and prizes for the children, to the volunteers for their assistance, to the community and the businesses who donated school supplies or monetary donations.

UDMO will continue to receive monetary donations and school supplies which can either be mailed or dropped off to UDMO Webster County Outreach Office, 900 Central Ave, Suite 11, Fort Dodge, IA 50501 or call our office at 576-7774. The Outreach office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

At a time when the impact of increased costs of daily living is felt by many, assisting low-income families to acquire basic school supplies for their children’s education is especially important. From all of us at UDMO, thank you so much for supplying over 700 children in Webster County with the tools they need to start a successful new school year.

Working together is making a difference in Webster County.
