Legends Tailgate reflects community spirit

To the editor:

As a local business owner, I’m always looking for needs and finding ways to fill them. I take the same approach with philanthropy. That’s why I’m looking forward to the Legends Tailgate at Friendship Haven on Friday.

Not only is this Friendship Haven’s biggest fundraiser of the year, but it’s a fun event filled with friends, family and great food. It’s terrific to see hundreds of people of all ages come together to enjoy the game-day inspired buffet, silent auction, live auction and Dueling Pianos concert.

The Legends Tailgate is one more way people work together to make great things happen in our community. All proceeds from the Legends Tailgate support Friendship Haven’s Good Samaritan Fund, which provides a safety net for people on campus who face unexpected medical costs and other expenses. The Good Samaritan Fund has been a hallmark of Friendship Haven for generations and offers priceless peace of mind for people like my mother, Marguerite.

Since Mom moved to campus 15 years ago, I’ve seen how Friendship Haven is more than a home for active seniors. It’s symbolic of a dynamic, vibrant community. I’m inspired when I hear people say how proud they are of Friendship Haven.

See what everyone’s talking about when you stop by the Legends Tailgate, which runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday.

I look forward to seeing you there.
