ANKENY – Lornie Bachman, 87, formerly of Auburn, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Auburn. Celebrant will be Father Larry McCarty and burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Auburn. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday with a vigil prayer service at 7 p.m. at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City.

Lornie Jospeh Bachman was born on January 17, 1927 in Sac County to Frank and Elsie (O’Tool) Bachman. He graduated from Auburn High School then served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1952. On July 21, 1962 Lornie married Carol Otto at Auburn, Iowa. He worked as an electrician, was owner of Bachman TV & Electric, and was a bus driver and custodian at Auburn School. Lornie was a member of the Auburn American Legion serving as past Commander, the Auburn Fire Department, Knights of Columbus and the Western Playboys band.

Lornie is survived by his daughters Angela (Dean) Kennebeck of Ankeny and Amanda Bachman of Urbandale, granddaughters Ashley Kennebeck of Urbandale, Megan Kennebeck and Katelyn Kennebeck both of Des Moines, brothers Arnold (Wilma) Bachman of Olathe, KS, Winfred (Shirley) Bachman of Essexville, MI and Larry (RoseMarie) Bachman of Santa Maria, CA, and sisters Lois Stewart-Curtis (J.B.) of Noble, OK and Verna Ewoldt of Harlan, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Elsie Bachman, wife Carol, parents-in-law Henry and Alta Otto, and brothers-in-law Duane Stewart and Don Ewoldt.
