FD man faces

drug charges

A Fort Dodge man is charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver, one with marijuana and the other with Alprazolam, a prescription pill.

Police arrested Edward J. Brown, 23, of 1729 14th Ave. S.W., on July 14 in the 900 block of 10th Avenue S.W. for an unrelated warrant.

While searching his car, police allegedly found two plastic bags of marijuana and a bag with 28 Alprazolam pills.

Police also found a digital scale with apparent marijuana residue in his vehicle after the arrest for the unrelated warrant.

Brown allegedly planned to sell the drugs within 1,000 feet of a public park.

Alprazolam is listed as a Schedule IV drug under the Iowa Code.

He also had $1,000 cash on him at the time of arrest.

Brown’s preliminary hearing is set for Aug. 1.

Brown is also charged with parole violation, which has been sent to the parole board.

Woman charged with fraud and theft

Deshawn Hanna, 19, 24260 Nelson Ave., No. 160, is charged with three counts of credit card fraud, each a Class D felony, and four counts of theft in the fifth degree.

While Hanna worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Bell in Fort Dodge, she allegedly charged $8.43 on a customer’s credit card at KFC on July 16. On the same day she allegedly also charged $5 and $20 extra to other customers’ credit cards.

Hanna also allegedly took $20 by using a customer’s credit card to place a transaction that was refunded by KFC.

Also, on the same day, she allegedly overcharged three customers and took $38 from the register. She is also accused of taking $18.41 from KFC.

The case was sent to District Court.
