Fourth-ranked Muscatine blanked No. 9 Wauke by a 5-0 count in Class 5A consolation action on Wednesday.

Katie Shoultz finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored for the Muskies (39-5).

Anna Manjoine went the distance in the circle, scattering seven hits and no earned runs. Manjoined walked none and fanned two.

Pleasant Valley 12,

Cedar Rapids Jefferson 0

Pleasant Valley had no trouble with Cedar Rapids Jefferson in the Class 5A consolation bracket on Wednesday.

The eighth-ranked Spartans rolled to a 12-0 six-inning victory over the No. 6 J-Hawks.

Sydney Dwyer, Haley Duwa and Kayla Schmell each collected three hits for Pleasant Valley. Duwa homered twice, drove in six and scored two runs.

Taylor Hester fired a three-hitter in the win. Hester walked none and fanned three.


West Delaware 2, Le Mars 1

No. 8 West Delaware escaped with a 2-1 victory over Le Mars in Class 4A consolation action here Wednesday.

Emily Thole and Bridget Hoffman each contributed a hit and a run scored for the Hawks, who plated single runs in the first two innings.

Hannah Cole allowed just three hits and one earned run over seven innings in the win.

Kassidy Rieken (home run), Madison Heidebrink (triple) and Crystal Eppling (single) all produced hits for the Bulldogs.

Oskaloosa 3,

Clear Creek-Amana 1

No. 10 Oskaloosa downed Clear Creek-Amana by a 3-1 count in a Class 4A consolation game on Wednesday.

Kelsie Tomlin was 2-for-3 at the plate with a RBI for the Indians, while Kylee Silliman added a hit and two runs driven in.


Mid-Prairie 5,

West Burlington 2

One big inning was all Mid-Prairie needed to pull out a 5-2 victory over West Burlington in a 3A consolation semifinal game.

Mid-Prairie scored four runs in the sixth inning.

Amber Kral went 2-for-3 for the Golden Hawks. Chelsea Kral drove in two runs.

Center Point-Urbana 5,

Spirit Lake 2

Center Point-Urbana picked up a 5-2 victory over Spirit Lake in a Class 3A consolation semifinal game on Wednesday.

Maddie Karr had a home run for the Stormin’ Pointers and drove in two runs.

Samantha Croghan struck out 12 batters for CP-U.

Spirit Lake pitcher Bailee Newman allowed only two hits.


Alubrnett 6, St. Ansgar 5

Alburnett pulled out a 6-5 nine-inning victory over Saint Ansgar in Class 2A consolation action on Wednesday.

Taylor Huber finished 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI for the 15th-ranked Pirates.

Maddie Volesky, Kaitlyn Boline, Maddison Harger and Kassidy Rose each chipped in two hits for Alburnett.

For the Saints, Paige Salz was 4-for-5 with a RBI. Kelsie Willert also went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

MV-A-O 15, North Butler 1

Scoring early and often, Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto coasted to a 15-1 four-inning triumph over North Butler in Class 1A consolation action on Wednesday.

Riley Guerra and Megan Kirchgatter delivered three hits each for the Rams, who erupted for 10 runs in the top of the fourth. Guerra homered, knocked in four and scored once, while Kirchgatter came home twice and had a RBI.


Lynnville-Sully 3,

Marquette 2

Madison Rasmusson’s walk-off RBI double lifted second-ranked Lynnville-Sully to a 3-2 victory over No. 11 Marquette Catholic in a Class 1A consolation game on Wednesday.

Rasmusson plated Haley James with the decisive run for the Hawks (36-2 overall) in the bottom of the seventh.

Wayne 1, Glidden-Ralston 0

No. 5 Wayne held off Glidden-Ralston by a 1-0 final in the Class 1A consoltion round here Wednesday.

Shania Austin scored the lone run of the game for the Falcons on an error by the Wildcat pitcher in the top of the sixth. Austin also had the only hit for Wayne.

Breanna Fortune walked two and fanned seven in the victory for the Falcons.

Lauren Mahlberg was 1-for-1 with a walk for Glidden-Ralston. Despite taking the loss, Mahlberg allowed just one hit with seven walks and 11 strikeouts.
