Woman accused of hosting drug house

Police arrested Brook M. Main, 18, of 506 Third St. N.W., on Sunday for a gathering where controlled substances are unlawfully used. Main allegedly knowingly hosted a gathering where multiple people used prescription pills recreationally and drank alcohol.

The people in the house were under 18 years old and were allegedly crushing and snorting prescription pills. That is a Class “D” felony.

Main’s case was sent to District Court.

Inmate faces escape charge in Sac County

SAC CITY – An inmate in the Sac County Jail now faces felony charges for attempted escape after the inmate allegedly scaled a security fence in an outdoor exercise area Friday morning.

Randy George Barney, 60, of Rockwell City, and three other inmates were in the exercise area at around 10 a.m. when Barney scaled the fence and barbed wire barrier. Barney was captured while he was still on the property by deputy sheriffs.

Barney received some minor cuts from the barbed wire but did not require medical treatment. Attempted escape is a Class “D” felony. Barney is currently being held in the Sac County Jail for burglary charges in Calhoun County.
