AVA MAUCH

Ava Mauch, 88, of Fort Dodge, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge with family by her side. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Lighthouse Ministries, 1333 4thAvenue North in Fort Dodge with the Rev. John Elkin Sr. officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday at the Lighthouse Ministries. The Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Ava Darlene Milliken, the daughter of Cecil and Marie (Kingsbury) Milliken, was born October 3, 1925 in Iowa. She went to school in Coalville and in 1949 Ava was united in marriage to Paul Panzi. After their marriage the couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Paul died in October of 1986. On September 8, 1990, Ava was united in marriage to Orvel Mauch and he passed away on June 22, 2005.

During World War II, Ava lived in South Dakota where she drove truck transporting war prisoners to different prison camps in and around South Dakota. After her time in South Dakota, Ava moved back to Fort Dodge where she worked at Tobins Meat Packing later the Geo. A Hormel & Co. in Fort Dodge for many years before retiring in the early 1970’s. After she had retired Ava helped her son and daughter-in-law at the Central Park Cafe where her specialties was her homemade desserts. We are all going to miss her spunk, her laughter, the Christmas candy and her good cooking.

Ava is survived by her son, Kevin (Carole) Panzi of Fort Dodge; six grandchildren, Chantelle (Aaron) Sedlacek, Chad Panzi, Courtney (J.D.) Eggers, Cameron Panzi, Chelsea Panzi, Heather Leilani; eight grandchildren; five step-children, Beverly Everhart, Martha (Kent) Wagner, Lily (Mike Raymond) Andrews, Sally (David) Andrews, and Annette Andrews, a step daughter-in-law, Regina Mauch; 18 step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren and one step great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, her spouses, her daughter Pauline Panzi Brasher, step son Orvel Mauch Jr., and all of her brothers and sisters.
