ROCKWELL CITY – Lavonne O’Leary 96, a resident of the Marian Home & Village, Fort Dodge, passed away Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 14, at St. Francis Catholic Church, Rockwell City, with Fr. Brian J. Danner officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the Church until service time. Palmer & Swank Funeral Home is serving the family.

Lavonne is survived by her sons, Lynn (Linda) O’Leary of Streamwood, IL, Bill (Jan) O’Leary of Garner, IA, Randy (Ann) O’Leary of Denver, CO, and Rick (Sue) O’Leary of Brainerd, MN; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great-grand children. She was preceded in death by her husband Merle J. O’Leary; parents, Calvin and Emma Baker Ringgenberg; step-father Jake Highberger; and sisters, Bernadine Kleemeier, Elizabeth Brasser, Phyllis Lilledahl, Theola Ruth, and Gertrude Ellis.

Lavonne Ringgenberg O’Leary was born January 12, 1918 at Newell, Iowa. She graduated from Rockwell City High School, with the Class of 1935. Lavonne then graduated from Thompson Beauty School in Des Moines. On August 25, 1942 she was united in marriage to Merle James O’Leary at Rockwell City. Lavonne worked as a beautician for over 50 years. She started in Manson for a short time and in 1957, opened her own beauty shop in Rockwell City until her retirement in 1987. Merle passed away in 1976. Lavonne was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, and the Altar Society.
