Lubinus dies in motorcycle accident near Gilmore City

POCAHONTAS – John Lubinus, 57, of Pocahontas, was killed Friday night when the motorcycle he was riding went into a ditch approximately 5 miles north of Gilmore City.

According to Pocahontas County Sheriff Bob Lampe, a 911 call was received at 9:44 p.m. about a single motorcycle accident on Pilot Creek Road in Pocahontas County.

An investigation determined that Lubinus was traveling northwest on Pilot Creek Road, just north of County Road P19 when he failed to navigate a right-hand turn.

He entered the ditch and was thrown from the motorcycle. Lubinus was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Pocahontas County sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Rolfe and Gilmore City ambulances and the Bradgate first responders.
