TWIN LAKES – The annual Twin Lakes Boat Parade made its way around the lake Friday evening with a group of craft decorated in various holiday themes.
Event organizer Roni Engeldinger, of Twin Lakes, said that 11 boats made the trip this year. Prizes were awarded for the best boat with the winner getting a marina gift certificate. She said she enjoys the more than 15-year tradition and hopes to see it keep going.
“It’s a tradition I want continue for my grandkids someday,” she said.
Shelly Gast, of Story City, enjoyed the St. Patrick Day boat.
“We’re going to Ireland,” she said.
Her friend, Brenda Gerdes, also of Story City, enjoyed watching the parade pass. She’s unable to join in because she lacks a boat.
“We have jet skis,” she said, “But it would be fun.”
One craft answered the question: How many St. Patrick’s Day celebrants can fit into one speed boat? Eight.
