LAKE CITY – Rachel Geisinger, 81, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2014 at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with Pastor Alice Bolen officiating and burial in the Lake City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City.

Rachel Pauline (Krause) Geisinger was born on June 27, 1933 at Sherwood, Iowa to August and Lucille (Gilliland) Krause. On June 25, 1951 she was married to Robert Geisinger. Rachel owned Rachel’s Cafe, she also worked as a cook at the Lake City High School, and as a clerk and fabric manager at Ben Franklin in Lake City.

Rachel is survived by her children Mona Schulte (Butch) of Sac City, IA, Rosa Young (Bobby) of Elk Grove, CA, Lu Shelley (Steve) of Stuart, IA, Bobby Geisinger (Brenda) of Lawton, IA, Rita Conger of Moore, OK, August “Dutch” Geisinger (Rita) of Pierre, SD, and Kaye Otto (Gerrid) of Odebolt, IA, 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. Also surviving are brothers Clifford and Clarence Krause and sisters Minnie Van Ahn, Mable Vetter and Carole Jean Erritt. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Cindra Geisinger, son Chad Smith, grandson Benjamen Shelley, brothers Harold, George and Raymond Krause, and sisters Lena Knight, and Deloris Morrow.
