BARNUM – Jerry L. Kelley, 76, of Barnum, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 5th from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home.

Survivors include his daughter, Lori Rial and her husband Terry of Clare; son, Mike Kelley and his wife Wendy of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Amber Lewis and her husband Andy of Fort Dodge; Nicole Knigge her fiance Jason McKelvey of Lincoln, NE; Mackenzie Knigge of Fort Dodge; great granddaughter, Morgan Lewis of Fort Dodge; and his sister, Marcia Hampton of West Des Moines; niece, Kelly (Ron Brittain) Hampton of Waukee; nephew, Dan Hampton and his wife Amy of Urbandale; great nephew and great nieces, Mason, Megan, Emma, Lydia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Rose (Harms) Kelley, and his sister, Jan Kelley.

Jerry Lee Kelley was born on September 13, 1937 in Lake City. Attended schools in Jolley, Rockwell City, and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. He then enlisted with the Iowa National Guard and served till receiving his honorable discharge. On March 21st, 1959 he was united in marriage to Jan Peterson and the couple made their home in Fort Dodge, Rockwell City, and later Barnum. The couple were later divorced. Jerry farmed his entire life, and also worked at U.S.G., and then Hormel’s until they closed. Jerry loved going to stock car races and tractor pulls.
