Veal, Bryson plead not guilty
Two teens charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting in Pleasant Valley have both pleaded not guilty.
Malik Veal, 18, and Jerique Bryson, 17, both of Fort Dodge, made the written pleas of not guilty on Monday via their attorneys.
No trial date had been set as of Monday afternoon.
The teens are accused of shooting at each other in the 1100 block of 10th Ave. S.W. on June 11.
Fort Dodge Police responded to the scene at 4:45 p.m. after receiving a report about the shooting.
During the exchange of gunfire, a woman, Wanda Mosley, 38, was shot inside her home at 1206 10th Ave. S.W. She was treated for an upper left shoulder injury and released from Trinity Regional Medical Center that evening.
The bullet passed through the wall of the house.
Veal is being held in the Webster County Jail on $25,000 bond for the attempted murder case and $5,000 on an escape from custody charge. Online court records indicate that Bryson has been released from jail after posting bond.
