Bill attended Holy Rosary Grade School and was a 1964 graduate of St. Edmond High School. Later, he was employed at Wiewel Drug Store and also ran “Bill’s Popcorn Shop” in downtown Fort Dodge. He then moved to Rockford, IL and worked as an office clerk for the Federal Job Corps Program which subsequently became The Rock River Training Corps City of Rockford. He worked there as a data entry processor.

Born with cerebral palsy, Bill’s disabilities worsened. After living in Rockford for 19 years, he retired and returned to Fort Dodge in 1997. Since October 2010, he resided at the Marian home where staff and residents became his family.
