Robert “Bob” Dwight, 69, of Fort Dodge passed away on Thursday June 26, 2014 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, June 30, 2014 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel in Fort Dodge with full military honors conducted by the VFW Post #1856 and the Iowa Army National Guard. Inurnment will be at a later date at the Oakland Cemetery in Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge.

Robert is survived by his two children, Denise (Tommy) Frederickson of Webster City, Iowa and John (Nicci) Dwight of Fort Dodge; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and his brother, Roger (Fran) Dwight of Fort Dodge. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Helen Dwight and Jean Chalfant.

Robert “Bob” Lee Dwight, the son of Reuben and Sylvia (Crafton) Dwight was born on March 25, 1945 in Moulton, Iowa. He attended school in Moulton and later served in the United States Army. Robert served in the Korean War and Vietnam. During his services in Vietnam, Robert received a Purple Heart.

On December 5, 1970, Robert married Patricia Martin. The couple had been married for 35 plus years before they divorced.

Robert worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation in road maintenance for over 20 years. He later worked security part time for Decker Truck Line.

Robert would do anything for anybody. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. Robert will be remembered for his laughter and he had the gift of making any body laugh.
