Lake City man faces murder charges

LAKE CITY- A Lake City man is accused of killing a woman and her son who were found dead May 18 at a home in Glidden.

Thomas Henderson, 53, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Tammie Lee Devore, 48, and Karl Allen Devore, 30, according to the Iowa Department of Public Safety.

Henderson was arrested Thursday when multiple law enforcement agencies, including agents from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, executed a search and arrest warrant at an apartment building in Lake City. He was arrested without incident.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 26.

The Devores’ bodies were found by law enforcement authorities after the Carroll County sheriff’s office received a 911 call reporting that there was someone unconscious at 129 Carroll St., Lot No. 5, in Glidden.

Henderson is being held in the Carroll County Jail.

His court-appointed attorney is Charles Kenville, of the Webster County public defenders office in Fort Dodge, that office confirmed Friday.

The Iowa State Patrol Tactical Team and Carroll County sheriff’s deputies were involved in Henderson’s arrest.

The Calhoun County sheriff’s office and the Lake City Police Department assisted with the investigation.
