Esther E. Licht, 90, of Fort Dodge passed away on Friday June 13, 2014 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday June 23, 2014 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Pastor Lyle Hansen officiating. Burial will follow at North Lawn Cemetery. The visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday June 22 at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services and then again from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service on Monday at the church.
Esther was born in Lodi, CA on January 9, 1924 to Emil and Linna (Roethe) Kirchhof. She grew up in Lodi and graduated from Lodi High School in 1941. She married Robert Licht on May 3, 1952 at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Lodi, CA and the couple then moved to Fort Dodge where they made their home. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, the Ruth Circle and the church quilting group. She loved spending time with her family and friends and was a mother that was highly devoted to her family. She enjoyed gathering recipes, cooking, baking and always enjoyed her neighborhood birthday coffee group.
Esther is survived by her children Ken (Cheryl) Licht of St. Joseph, MO, Richard (Lori) Licht of Minneapolis, MN, Karen (Tony) Reding of Urbandale, IA and John (Amy) Licht of Safety Harbor, FL; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert; her parents Emil and Linna; her sister Edna Jones and her brother Herbert Kirchhof.
