Two charged with attempted murder in Wednesday shooting
Malik Veal and Jerique Bryson, who are both charged with attempted murder in connection with a shooting in Fort Dodge Wednesday, made their initial appearances in Webster County Magistrate Court today.
Magistrate William Habhab ordered each be held for $25,000 bond. Attempted murder is a Class B felony.
In addition, Habhab also set bond at $5,000 cash for Veal on a second charge, escape from custody, which is also a Class B felony.
Officers responded Wednesday afternoon to reports of shots being fired in the area of the 1100 block of 10th Avenue Southwest.
Wanda Mosley, 38, had been inside a house at 1206 10th Ave. S.W. when she heard gunshots outside. Mosley was struck in the shoulder area and transported to Trinity Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released.
According to police reports, gunfire was being exchanged. Following preliminary investigation, Veal, 18, and Bryson, 17, taken into custody and subsequently charged.
Preliminary hearings for the suspects are set for June 20.
