FH names new CFO
Debbie Russell, who has served Friendship Haven for more than 15 years as the organization’s chief financial officer, has resigned, according to an announcement by Friendship Haven President and Chief Executive Officer Julie Thorson.
Friendship Haven’s succession plan included Kalleen Engels succeeding Russell as the organization’s CFO.
Engels has served Friendship Haven for 19 years in the company’s business office. She most recently served as the organization’s controller/human resource director. Engels has her bachelor’s degree from Buena Vista University with degrees in both accounting and management/human resources. She has held several positions in the business office.
Russell has been a member of Friendship Haven’s leadership team for more than 15 years. She was instrumental in the company’s recent building project. An example of her commitment to Friendship Haven is her involvement in the company’s succession plan.
Thorson said, “We are happy to welcome Kalleen Engels to her new role as chief financial officer. Debbie has had the opportunity to mentor Kalleen for years. We are confident this change in leadership will be a successful one and we are happy to encourage both in their new adventures.”
Russell plans to serve a similar retirement community in Ames and will be relocating to Ames to be closer to her family and granddaughter.
Engels is from Fort Dodge and a graduate of St. Edmond High school. She and husband Geoff have two daughters, Madison and Sydney.
