Police investigate car shooting in Fort Dodge
A car being driven by a juvenile was shot at Thursday afternoon, and Fort Dodge Police are investigating to find out who committed the shooting.
The incident was reported to Fort Dodge Police at 3:08 p.m. Thursday.
Officers were called to the 1000 block of Ninth Ave. S.W. after receiving a report of damage to a tan Kia Spectra.
When they arrived, the car’s owner, Vera Altman, told officers that her juvenile son was driving the Kia in the area of Second Avenue North and 11th Street, according to Police Chief Tim Carmody.
Altman said when her son stopped at the intersection of Second Avenue North and 11th Street, he noticed a red crossover-style SUV with two people inside approaching.
Her son said one of the people in the SUV fired a gun into the Kia, hitting it once before the crossover fled the area.
Nobody was hurt.
Altman’s son drove home and told his mother what happened.
The FDPD is not identifying Altman’s son because he is underage.
Officers have spoken to witnesses and are continuing the follow-up investigation.
