Stabbing, shooting being investigated

Investigators are continuing to piece together a Sunday morning incident where a man was stabbed and the suspect was shot during an alleged home invasion.

Sheriff Jim Stubbs said law enforcement was conducting interviews Monday to determine what happened early Sunday morning near Coalville.

According to Stubbs, a man began talking to the home’s resident around 6 a.m. At some point, the man pulled out a knife and began assaulting the victim, who then began firing a gun at the suspect.

The suspect was later found along with his car in a ditch on Mill Road.

Both were taken to Trinity Regional Medical Center, and the suspect was later flown to an undisclosed hospital for further treatment.

Neither man has been identified by the Webster County Sheriff’s Department.
