Webster City, Humboldt in action

AMES – The Webster City golf team is 16 strokes behind first place West Delaware in the Class 3A boys state golf tournament.

West Delaware shot a 301 and Creston/O-M (315) sits in second. The Lynx shot a 317 and Centerville (323) was fourth.

North Central Conference counterparts Clear Lake (325) and Humboldt (329) were fifth and sixth, respectively.

Centerville’s Alex Moorman leads the individual standings with a 70. Creston’s Carson Whittington (71) and West Delaware’s Clayton Larsen (71) are one-stroke back.

Humboldt junior Jaxson Heinz shot a 77, the seventh best score of the first round. Webster City sophomore Alec Fuhs also shot a 77.

Rounding out the scoring for the Lynx were junior Logan Yates (79), freshman Drew Fielder (80) and sophomore Avery Fuhs (81). Also competing was junior John Ferrell (84) and sophomore Sean Vogelbacher (90).

Counting scores for the Wildcats were juniors Christian Birdsell (80), Austen Gargano (85) and Casey Kayser (87) also competing was junior Brenden Schnell (90) and sophomore Andy Nelson (93).
