SE’s Flattery ties for 8th in high jump

DES MOINES – Gaining more valuable experience on the big stage, Megan Flattery impressed once again at the Class 2A state track meet Friday.

St. Edmond’s freshman tied for eighth in the high jump with a mark of 5-0. Van Meter’s Nicole Meyer, Roland-Story’s Lauren Himan, Clarke’s Alexis Barr and Davis County’s Lauren Lynch all matched Flattery’s efforts.

Claiming gold was Maria Wrage (5-6) of Union.

“Tying for eighth was awesome,” said SEHS head coach Liz Flattery. “We were hoping for 12th coming in. I hope she keeps working hard and can build on this now for next year.”

Entering Des Moines, Flattery was seeded 22nd in the high jump. On Thursday, she was seventh in the 400.

Flattery and junior Landon Peed will each run the 800 this morning for the Gaels. The girls 800 begins at 9:50 a.m., followed by the boys event at 10:30 a.m.
