BOONE – Vaunita Welch, age 86, of Boone, died at her home on May 20, 2014. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of the Nazarene in Boone. Burial will be in the Boone Memorial Gardens.

Vaunita was born in Boone on January 15, 1928, the daughter of Ernest and Mary (Gardner) Logue. She graduated from Boone High School in 1946. On June 15, 1946, Vaunita married Bernard Welch in Boone. The couple divorced May 10, 1966.

Vaunita is preceded in death by her parents, a brother John Logue, three brothers-in-law Don Rogers, Don Westberg, and Vern Welch, grandson Joe Thomas, and a great granddaughter Alyssa Dawn Harris. She is survived by four sons: Kenneth (Cyndi) Welch of Lead Hill, AR, Leslie (Beverly) Welch of Perry, Dr. Brian (Suzanne) Welch of Fort Dodge, and Brett Welch (fiancee Thelma Powers) of Boone; three daughters: Connie (Larry) Mullin of Ogden, Kathy (Rev. Eugene) Jipson and Sherrie (Michael) Derry, both of Boone; 19 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; a great-great grandson; two sisters, Donna (Gerald) Westberg and Marian Rogers, both of Boone; and numerous other relatives.

Friends may call at the Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall in Boone on Monday from 4 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 6 until 8 p.m. Visitation on Tuesday will be at the Church after 10 a.m.

In memory of Vaunita, memorials may be directed to the Building Fund of the Church of the Nazarene.
