Dodger boys defeat Bobcats
MARSHALLTOWN – The Fort Dodge boys tennis team closed out their regular season here Monday with an 11-0 victory over Marshalltown.
The Dodgers (8-1 overall, 2-0 in CIC North) earned their fourth 11-0 win on the season, adding to sweeps over Des Moines North, Ankeny and Carroll Kuemper.
“I was happy to see our focus was good (Monday) as it can be tricky to play a rescheduled regular season dual meet after getting geared up for districts last week,” FDSH head coach Jared Feddersen said. “being undefeated in the conference is something we’ve been working toward all season. This should really help us moving forward into team substate this weekend.”
Brian Murman earned a victory at the No. 1 single spot by pulling out a win in the super tiebreak after splitting his first two sets with Kalei Platt.
Caleb Hendrickson, Jon Bowser and Andrew Stover each posted identical 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles action. Murman and Bowser also scored a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the top doubles spot.
The Dodgers return to action this weekend when they play Dowling in Carroll in the team substate semifinals. The lone loss Fort Dodge has suffered on the season came to Dowling, 6-5.
