LEBANON, Mo. – Terrance Lee Wood, M.D., gifted surgeon, died May 13, 2014 in Lebanon, Missouri.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years Jeannie, and two sons Max and Sam, all of Fort Dodge, Iowa.

He is also survived by his parents Marvin and Virginia Wood, and one sister Becky Christal all of Lebanon, Missouri. A graveside service was performed May 15, 2014 in Lebanon, Missouri.

Terry was born November 12, 1957 in Kansas City, Kansas. He was an Eagle Scout and dearly enjoyed spending time at Bennett Springs State Park near Lebanon. He was a passionate man who studied word origins and Biblical history. Above all else he was a devoted son, proud father and compassionate physician. He loved his patients and developed emotional bonds with many of them. He held to uncompromising standards when it came to patient care and often spoke with or saw patients anytime they needed him. His generosity was legend and he enjoyed a wicked sense of humor, finding the humor in things that helped keep a perspective on trying times. In college and medical school he maintained a 4.0 grade level creating a legacy that his sons continue in his honor.

We will deeply miss Terry but especially at those times that bring him to mind; watching 4th of July fireworks, visiting the State Fair, carving pumpkins in the fall, meandering the woods near Dolliver State Park, or barbecuing on a chimnea that put Mt Vesuvius to shame. We thank God for letting us love him for the 56 years he shared with us, and are grateful that he is no longer in physical pain.

To commemorate Terry’s love of nature memorial gifts can be sent to Friends of Webster County Conservation at Kennedy Park, 1415 Nelson Ave, Fort Dodge, Iowa.
