Four Tritons are champs
MESA, Ariz. – The Iowa Central men’s and women’s track and field teams grabbed four titles on the first day of the national championships.
Brady Grunder won the men’s hammer throw with a school record throw and Tahir Chakisso won the men’s 10km.
Elizabeth Dadzie won the triple jump for the women.
The men’s 4×800-meter relay team of Dean Cronin, Kyle Hosting, Josh Prohaska and Dylan Eigenberger were also national champions with a school record time.
Also placing for the men were Shaquille Wells (sixth) in the hammer throw. Frankline Kebenei and Blake Whalen finished second and fifth respectively in the men’s 10k.
For the women, Ethanity Dunn was seventh in the triple jump. Viola Kebenei and Hannah Maina were second and third in the 10k.
Xaivier McAllister is leading the men’s decathlon by 500 points. He’s won four of the five events (100-meter dash, long jump, high jump and 400-meter dash). Darrius Brown is in fifth place.
Teammates Elizabeth Dadzie and Martiesha Caines are among the Top-5 in the women’s heptathlon for Iowa Central.
