Webster City breaks 300 for championship

BOONE – The Webster City boys golf team on a Class 3A sectional title, shooting a 299, the best in Class 3A.

Ballard (311) was the other team qualifier.

Webster City’s Avery Fuhs (70) was the meet-medalist. Ballard’s Nick Hartman (74) was the runner-up.

Also qualifying as individuals were Gilbert’s Ben Hinners (75), Ballard’s Sage Fitchko (76) and Webster City teammates Alec Fuhs (76) and Logan Yates (76).

Webster City will compete in districts Wednesday in Ames.

Mustangs, Chargers advance to districts

NEWELL – Newell-Fonda won a sectional championship on Friday to advance to the district meet.

The Mustangs shot a 326 and will be joined by Alta-Aurelia (338) and Laurens-Marathon (367).

Laurens-Marathon’s Devin Grossnickle (77) was the meet-medalist. Newell-Fonda’s Jason Hess (79) and Ben Lindstrom (79), along with Josh McCormick (80) of Alta-Aurelia will also advance to districts.

Qualifiers will compete in districts next Thursday in Newell.

Laurens-Marathon – Devin Grossnickle 77, Chase Oehlertz 90, Logan Sampers 91, Levi Sampers 109.

Garrigan wins sectional crown

BRITT – The Bishop Garrigan boys golf squad won a sectional title on Friday in Britt.

The Golden Bears carded a 321, the best overall Class 1A team score in sectional play by five strokes.

Belmond-Klemme (340) and Graettinger-Terril (351) followed.

Wes Buntenbach (77) of Belmond-Klemme was the meet-medalist. Garrigan’s Jess Marlow (78) was the runner-up.

Also qualifying on the individual side was Graettinger-Terril’s Ethan Petersen (79), Bishop Garrigan’s Michael Berke (81), Donovan Berte (81), Zach Boelter (81).

Warriors move on

COON RAPIDS – The Prairie Valley boys golf squad shot a 331 won a Class 1A sectional title on Friday.

Coon Rapids-Bayard (350) and Guthrie Center (351) also advanced.

Prairie Valley’s Conner Conrad (80) was the meet-medalist, while teammate Keegan Goodwin (81) was the runner-up. Also qualfying was Guthrie Center’s Jared Baier (82) and Glidden-Ralston’s Aaron Rodriguez (83).

The Warriors will compete at districts on Friday in Anita.

Prairie Valley (331) – Conner Conrad 80, Keegan Goodwin 81, Logan Boerner 85, Ethan Wiederin 85.

E-Hawks keep going

OKOBOJI – The Emmetsburg boys golf team finished second in their Class 2A sectional and advanced to districts.

The E-Hawks fired a 328, three strokes behind winner Estherville-Lincoln Central (325).

Emmetsburg’s Mike Myers (77) was the meet-medalist. Okoboji’s Tyler Ohl (77) was the runner-up.

Also qualifying as individuals were Emmetsburg’s Mike Pugh (78) and Estherville-Lincoln Central teammates Corey Reeves (79) and Jack Brashear (79).

The E-Hawks will play their district meet next Friday in Storm Lake.

Humboldt advances

ATLANTIC – The Humboldt boys shot a 330 and advanced to districts.

Spencer (339) was the runner-up.

Humboldt’s Christian Birdsell (76) was the meet-medalist. Carroll’s Zach Riddle (77) was the runner-up.

Also advancing as individuals were MOC-Floyd Valley’s Tate Arends (79) and LeMars Tyler Carlson (79).

The Wildcats will compete in districts next Friday in Carroll.
