Dodger girls down Wildcats

HUMBOLDT – Paige Savery scored two goals to lead the Fort Dodge girls soccer team past Humboldt here Thursday evening, 4-2.

Savery tallied the first two goals for the Dodgers (3-5 overall), while Madeline Westerhoff and Francis Lee tacked on the other two before the Wildcats cut into the lead.

“I thought our forwards moved the ball better than they have all year,” FDSH head coach Nathan Ramthun said. “Overall, I just thought we played excellent. We moved some people around to different positions and it allowed us to play a complete game.”

Westerhoff also had two assists, while Erin Ruden added an assist, as well. The win snapped a four-match losing streak for the Dodgers.

“Just a couple of late miscues led to the goals, but overall, our defense played great,” Ramthun said. “This was a good win for us to get.”

Fort Dodge returns to action today at home against Ames. Start time is set for 6 p.m. They finish out the year with four home matches over the next two weeks.
