Garrigan wins NCC girls golf

IOWA FALLS – Bishop Garrigan won the North Central Conference girls golf meet on Tuesday at Meadow Hills.

The Golden Bears recorded a 376. Clear Lake (380) turned in a runner-up effort, while Humboldt (387) placed third. St. Edmond (412) was seventh.

Alexa Capesius (75) of Garrigan took home medalist honors. Rounding out the Golden Bear scorecard were Britney Arndorfer (99), Chloe Garman (100) and Emily Marlow (102).

Counters for the Gaels were Emma Halligan (86), Melissa Mikos (98), Maggie Fitzgerald (109) and Lauren Moeding (119). Halligan actually finished fourth individually.

“I was pleased with our second nine round scores (SEHS followed up a 218 with a 194 on the second nine), which shows the ladies can learn quickly on a course,” said St. Edmond head coach Justin Faiferlick. “Our team had the best improvement on the second nine with 24 strokes saved. We need to work hard now over the next few days to be ready for regionals on Monday.”

Humboldt’s Savannah Schnetzer (90), Clarion-Goldfield’s Mikaela Livengood (83), Algona’s Chyenna Julius (99) and Sienna Wolf (99), Webster City’s Megan Gilbert (92) and Eagle Grove’s Katie Blasi (96) led the way for each of their programs.

St. Edmond will host a Class 2A regional meet on Monday at Lakeside.
