Algona wins NCC boys track
HAMPTON – Bo Hjelle and Esden Carroll were each double individual champions in helping Algona to its seventh straight North Central Conference meet title Monday night.
Hjelle prevailed in the 800 (1:57.08) and 1600 (4:53.38) for the Bulldogs, while Carroll earned gold in the 200 (23.16) and 400 (51.85). Other Algona victories came from Cameron Lahndorf (discus, 141-02), Cameron Crosser (400 hurdles, 58.16), the 4×400 (Joe Teague, Jeremy Rerup, Crosser and Carroll, 3:32.62), the 4×800 (Sam Feucht, Nathan Stumme, Hjelle and Peter Hollinger, 8:28.83) and the shuttle hurdle (Brandon Lloyd, Crosser, Michael McCauley and Weston Shaw, 1:00.71).
Mason Willey (100, 11.58), Mitch Gambrill (shot put, 49-00.50) and the 4×100 (Bryce Hamilton, Zach Pogge, Willey and Cesare Leonardi, 45.24) all claimed titles for Clarion-Goldfield.
Humboldt received its lone triumph from Jacob Miller in the 3200 (10:27.88).
