Iowa Central recently landed 11 players on the all-Region XI softball teams.
Nicole Dobernecker of the Tritons was named Region XI Offensive Player of the Year after setting a new program single-season mark with 20 home runs. Dobernecker batted .386 with a team-high 69 RBI, 61 hits and 42 runs scored.
Iowa State recruit Sammie Hildreth (.409 BA, 72 H, 55 R, 45 RBI, 20 2B, 15 HR), Fort Dodge graduate and University of West Florida signee Chelsy Krantz (.377 BA, 55 H, 41 SB, 32 R) and former North Union all-stater Allie Ingalls (22-9; 180 IP, 174 H, 2.91 ERA) were also picked to the top squad for Iowa Central.
Making the second team for the Tritons were Sarah McCoy, Carmen Rivera, Taylor Barnett and Emilee Dorpinghaus.
Casey-May Huff, Morningside College recruit Haley Rustvold (Fort Dodge) and Katie Newbury each garnered honorable mention status for Iowa Central.
After winning just 13 games last spring, the Tritons finished this season 42-15 overall and 19-7 in the ICCAC.
“It was good to have so many kids rewarded for their hard work,” said ICCC head coach Josh Sandin. “To have four players on the first team after finishing third in the conference is pretty impressive. I was surprised by the numbers we had. The cool thing was we had (five) sophomores make it. It was nice to see their dedication over the last two years paid off.”
