Flattery wins four events
CLARION – Megan Flattery claimed gold in four different events for the St. Edmond girls track team at the Cowgirl Relays on Friday night.
Flattery, a freshman, prevailed in the high jump (5-0), 200 (28.40), 400 (59.21) and the 800 (2:45).
“Megan has been pushing herself to improve,” said SEHS assistant coach Sarah Hummelgard. “She was close to getting 5-1 (in the high jump) and had a personal best in the 400.”
Maric Salocker (200, 29.14) and Madi Reel (100, 13.09) each turned in runner-up efforts for St. Edmond.
Placing third for the Gaels were Jaci Taylor (3000, 12:57) and the 4×400 (Clare Flattery, Salocker, Leah Cosgrove and Kara Salinas, 4:54).
As a team, St. Edmond finished third. Host Clarion-Goldfield earned top honors.
Next action for the Gaels is Monday at the North Central Conference meet in Clear Lake. Start time is set for 5 p.m.
