LAURENS Richard “Dick” DeYoung, age 86, of Laurens, passed away on April 29, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital.
Funeral Services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 2, at The United Methodist Church in Laurens with Rev. Jim Turner officiating. Burial will be in Laurens Cemetery near Laurens.
Visitation is 4-6 p.m, Thursday, May 1, at The Smith-Loterbour-Powers Funeral Home in Laurens.
Richard L. DeYoung was born in Laurens, Iowa. He graduated from Laurens High School in 1947. After graduation he attended Cedar Rapids Business College, graduating in 1950. After college Richard began his banking career in Storm Lake, Iowa. In 1951 Richard was drafted into the United States Army. After his service to our country, Richard returned to Storm Lake to resume his banking career. He worked for the Iowa Division of Banking and banks in Tama and Creston before returning to Laurens. He retired from the Laurens State Bank in 1998, but still served on the bank board until his death. Richard served in the banking industry for 64 years.
Richard is survived by daughter Diane (Terry) Latham, Laurens, IA and Denese (Jay) Hoskinson, Dallas Center, IA; six grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife LaDonna, sons Ricky and Doug: his parents, two brothers, one sister, and one great grandchild.
