Live Healthy event succeeds

To the editor:

On behalf of the Healthy Webster County Coalition, I would like to thank everyone who participated in the first annual Live Healthy Iowa 5K walk/run and youth 1K in Fort Dodge held on April 12. Over 100 people came out for the inaugural event, including many first-time 5K participants.

Way to go!.

The success of this event is due to our many outstanding community sponsors and volunteers. A very special thank you goes out to: Active Health, Brown’s Shoes, Decker Sports, Fareway, Fort Dodge Police Department, Fort Frenzy, Hy-Vee, Iowa Central Community College, It Gets Better Fort Dodge & Beyond, Jeff’s Jons, Parks & Recreation, Party Productions, Pelham’s, Pepsi Corp, Small Business Development Center, The Bike Shop, Unity Point Health, Webster County Conservation, Webster County Health Department, Wendy’s, and Walker Law Office.

The instrumental help of these volunteers, businesses, and organizations clearly demonstrates the strength of our community in supporting health initiatives. Without their help, this event would not have been possible.
