KNIERIM – Richard Rosendahl, 86, died at Friendship Haven on Sun. Apr. 27, 2014. Funeral services will be held on Thurs. May 1 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church at Knierim where there will be a visitation on Thurs. from 9:00 until 11:00. Burial will be in Greenfield Township Cemetery. Larson-Weishaar Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Richard Martin Rosendahl was born on September 11, 1927, near Knierim, Iowa, the son of Martin Ubbe and Clara Ida (Omann) Rosendahl. He graduated from Manson High School in 1946. Shortly after graduating he joined the U. S. Army, serving in Japan from 1946 to 1947. He then returned to the Knierim area, where he started farming in 1948. He married Maxine Reinholtz on November 20, 1949, at St. John Lutheran Church, Lizard Township, and they operated the farm together until retiring in 1991.

Richard is survived by his wife Maxine; sons Grant (Paullette) Rosendahl of Knierim, IA; Byron (Deb) Rosendahl of Ft. Dodge, IA; Lynn (Carol) Rosendahl of Rosemount, MN; daughter Michelle Rosendahl of Carroll, IA; grandchildren Jerad, Mikal, Haley, Erica, Austin, Gregory, Daniel, Jillian, and Mitchell; great grandchildren Addison, Corbin, Reese, and Brady. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Walter and Dale Rosendahl; sister Doris Christoffer; and son Stephen Rosendahl.

Richard’s family would like to extend a warm thank you to the staff at Friendship Haven and Unity Point Hospice. In lieu of flowers they would like to request memorials go to New Hope Village in Carroll, IA or the National Alzheimer’s Association.
