Vincent House plans May Day tea
A mother-daughter May Day Tea will be held May 4 at the Vincent House, 824 Third Ave. S.
The afternoon event organized by the Friends of the Vincent House will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and will include crafting May baskets, dancing around the May pole and photo opportunities to commemorate the day.
Finger sandwiches will be served, along with sweets and tea or lemonade.
Reservations are required and can be made by calling the YWCA at 573-3931, ext. 204. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased at the YWCA, 826 First Ave. N., or online at www.vincenthousefd.org.
Proceeds go toward upkeep and maintenance of the historic Vincent House. Constructed in 1872, the house follows the Second Empire style characterized by the mansard roof and tall narrow windows.
It was bequeathed to the YWCA in the 1960s from the Vincent-Deardorf family and placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It is now used primarily for meetings, parties, receptions and other special events.
