Fern Ella Egli was born on Nov. 24, 1923, at Manson, IA, the daughter of Louie Levi and Rose Ella (Ulrich) Egli. She married Don Kaufman on January 2, 1944, at Manson. Fern’s greatest joy was her family, attending family reunions, the holidays, and especially making Christmas cookies and candy with her grandchildren. She loved to quilt and to read, but truly missed both of those things when her vision started to deteriorate. She spent a lot of her time listening to music and to audiobooks.
Fern is survived by her husband of 70 years Don, her children Lloyd Kaufman of Des Moines, IA; Dean (Terri) Kaufman; Donella (Paul) Zeka; Rosie Lenz all of Manson; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister Kathryn Egli; brothers Paul, Dale, and Wayne Egli; and her son-in-law Bruce Lenz. Fern’s family would prefer memorials be given to the Manson Mennonite Church.
