Host Cougar boys capture title

MANSON – The Manson Northwest Webster boys track team prevailed at its own Brad Kruse Co-Ed Relays Thursday night.

Behind eight gold medals, the Cougars easily outdistanced the rest of the field with 154 points. South Central Calhoun (118) and Pocahontas Area (75) both followed.

Jack Walstrom was a triple individual champion for the Cougars in the 800 (2:08.91), 1600 (4:48.36) and 3200 (10:18.71). Other MNW triumphs came from Jackson Johnson (high jump, 6-3), Hudson Spedding (long jump, 20-11), Alex Bush (110 hurdles, 16.07), Braden Moser (400, 52.75) and the 4×400 (3:31.31).

Finishing second for the Cougars were Lucas Dolder (100, 11.76 and 200, 23.43), McCoy Snell (long jump, 19-6.5), Cal Twait (shot put, 43-5) and the shuttle hurdle (1:00.51).

South Central Calhoun received victories from Jake Petzenhauser (400 hurdles, 55.46), Cody Schoop (shot put, 43-11.5), the sprint medley (3:51.50), the 4×800 (8:39.88), the 4×100 (45.43) and the shuttle hurdle (59.68). Settling for runner-up honors for the Titans were Matt Nieland (16.54), Blake Fonken (discus, 113-6.5) and the 4×400 (3:43.96).

Caleb Ricke (1600, 5:00.57 and 3200, 10:48.93), Brandon Gathers (high jump, 5-10) and the 4×100 (45.50) each checked in second for Pocahontas Area.

For East Sac County, Nick Snyder (800, 2:13.48) and the 4×800 (8:43.31) both took home silver.
