Hendricks to perform today

MANSON – The Manson Ministerial Association will sponsor a special concert by international Christian pianist Jim Hendricks today at 4 p.m. at Our Savior United Methodist Church. Hendricks will also perform during the morning worship service in OSUM Church at 10:15 a.m.

Hendricks began playing the piano as a child and quickly displayed an uncanny ability to play anything he heard on recordings and to memorize any printed music for piano. After high school, he performed with such greats as Dave Brubeck, Della Reese, Jack Jones, Tito Puente, Rita Moreno and many others. By the age of 25, Hendricks accepted a professorship in the piano department of Chicago State University.

However, while on tour with the Glenn Miller Orchestra, Hendricks decided to focus on Christian music and ministry rather than secular music. He has since performed Christian music at the piano in hundreds of churches all across the United States, including several appearances at the Crystal Cathedral in California. This will be his second performance in Manson.

A free will offering will be taken during the public concert to help Hendricks with expenses. Also, a community pot luck will be offered at 5:30 p.m. with food provided by the Manson churches.
