Host Warriors capture crown

GOWRIE – The Prairie Valley girls track team won the Class B portion of the Richard Ryan Relays here Monday night.

The Warriors scored 164 points, 26 better than runner-up Manson Northwest Webster.

Laurens-Marathon was third, followed by West Bend-Mallard, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Southeast Webster-Grand and Paton Churdan.

Prairie Valley won both the 4×800-meter relay and the final event of the night, the 4×400-meter relay, over the Cougars. Earning individual crowns for the host school were Clara Pearson (long jump, 15-7.5), Natalie Lambert (100 hurdles, 17.56; 400 hurdles, 1:14.02) and Erica Rittgers (800, 2:41.06).

Zoe Schneider, Angela Dopita, Meryl Moeller and Rittgers all picked up runner-up finishes, as did both the shuttle hurdle and distance medley relays.

Winning titles for Manson Northwest Webster were Taylor Wood (discus, 101-10), Elle Herzberg (100, 12.44; 200, 26.28), the sprint medley and 4×100 relays.

Kourtney Condon, Faith Troshynski, the 4×400 and 4×800 all placed second.

Leading the Chargers were Kenzie Sullivan (shot put, 33-0.5) and Brooke Runneberg (high jump, 14-10), who each won gold. Briley Sullivan, Kenzie Sullivan and Runneberg also scored seconds.

West Bend-Mallard’s distance medley (4:48.72), Madelynn Gehrt (400, 1:05.47) and Anna Zaugg (1500, 5:41.56) were winners.

Lauren Thatcher and the 4×100 relay each placed second.

Emma Luhmann won the 3000 to lead the Eagles, finishing in 12:45.20.
