2014 Fur Ball is Saturday
When is a Fur Ball a good thing? When it’s the sixth annual “Bets for Pets” Fur Ball to benefit Almost Home. Mark your calendars for Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m. and we will see you at the Fort Dodge Ford Toyota showroom for a night filled with fun and great memories. Nestle Purina is sponsoring the Fur Ball this year, and they are bringing in some mouth-watering catering from Mineral City Mill & Grill and Olde Boston’s Restaurant & Pub. Jared from Mojo Productions will be there spinning your favorite tunes, and Troy and Lisa Schroeder from Memories in Focus will be available to capture all of your great memories at their photo booth.
We will have the casino games and prizes if you like to play, silent and live auctions for you to bid on some really great items, and of course a few raffles. There will be a cash bar, pop and water to complement those fantastic appetizers.
The Fur Ball has always been a casual attire event, and this year is just the same. However, if you would like to be known as King or Queen of the ball, you can enter the first Best Dressed Contest. The winner will receive half of the entry fees. What better way to show off your beautiful ball gowns and tuxedos.
This great event will benefit all of the homeless and abandoned animals staying at Almost Home until they find their forever homes. We will have a slide show highlighting some of the animals that were adopted over the past year and pictures from some of the events we held last year as well. If you have pictures you would like to see included, please contact us at 955-8343 for details.
For a look at some the items that will available on the auctions and the raffles, visit our Facebook page, Fur Ball Almost Home Iowa.
In the past five years, the Fur Ball has had an average attendance of 600 people and has raised almost $30,000 each year that directly benefits the animals of Almost Home. During 2013, we adopted 823 animals to their forever homes, and hope for the same for 2014. Without the community’s support of the Fur Ball and Almost Home, we could not make this happen. We operate solely on donated funds and supplies because we receive no federal, state or county funding. We also receive no funding from the Humane Society of the United States. Everything that we are able to do, and all of the dogs and cats that we are able to help, is because of you. Every penny counts.
Please help make the sixth annual “Bets for Pets” Fur Ball the best yet. Get your tickets in advance at Almost Home, Fort Dodge Ford Toyota, Hy-Vee or Mineral City. They are $20 each or $35 per couple. You can also purchase them at the door for $25 each. If you have a donation that you would like to make for the Fur Ball, please call us at 955-8343, or stop out to see us at 725 S. 32nd Street in Fort Dodge.
